adventures with k**k

the Dollarama commeth. after going to Long and McQuade, i drove through the river city center parking lot and sure enough there, where Fanny's Fabrics used to be, a Dollarama. it's not open yet, but today they were putting the big letters up and there were "opening soon" signs in the windows.

music purchases for today were the Beatles - White Album and Led Zeppelin - 1. both great classic albums. i also picked up a mint records sampler for 50c.

a little haiku for you

i feel so naked
my beard has been shaved off
damn you itchy hairs

also, the top gear clips i put up in past posts may not work anymore if they have been erased from the video google page. if they don't, i'm sorry. you missed out.

finally got around to watching "half baked" yesterday. it's amazing how many relatively famous people were in it. it's also amazing that it made any sense without being baked ourselves.

hello. i've nothing to say really. having very few interesting thoughts. we've a new pastor for c'n c and worship (both) which shall be interesting. it'll probably require some serious reconsideration in both departments as far as how things are done. i think that's a good thing. not so much because there is anything wrong (though i suppose there is), but because change could be a good thing. prayers said, fingers crossed.

i should also say that the urban barn is not only a great place to roam around in after it's closed, but it appears to be a very reasonable, and therefore tempting, place to shop.

i finally watched "Walk the Line" tonight, and i must say i'm not entirely impressed. the story is told very well, and from what i know it's relatively accurate. the actors do quite well, though i would say i was not as convinced of Joaquin Pheonix performance. i'm not entirely sure how i feel about it. it was enjoyable to watch, but i'm not sure it's the wonder it's been made out too be.

yesterday, after skipping church, i decided i needed to do something productive. since there was a great deal of snow in my "clean" driveway, i got out the snowblower. now you have to understand i haven't used the snowblower in... a long long time. anyway, it went relatively well. i felt pretty good about it. it kept slowly snowing for the rest of the day, but i thought it would be ok. this morning i got up and i couldn't see the lines i'd cut yesterday. it looked like i hadn't done a thing. now i've gone out since and it's not that bad, it's actually only about a light inch. but man, when i got up... i wasn't impressed.

Part II - new kicks

shortly after posting my last post, Corey from 9times called to inform me my new shoes had come in. since they are only open until 5:30 and i don't want to come into the city tomorrow unless i absolutely have to, i jumped in the car and launched into town. after passing a cop at almost 120kph on warman road (i've never gone in for the "God found me a parking spot" thing, but today God found me a blind spot.) and braving rush hour traffic i arrived on louise and 8th and was presented with some beautiful new kicks. after that i decided i'd stop at McNalley and, since i was having such a corking day, spend my gift certificate from Christmas. the only thing i could find, however, was a 4.50$ copy of "The Wind in the Willows". far to little to break the certificate. so i ended up, yet again, buying something without using my gift certificate.... i regret nothing.

another successful lunch and music trip with k*rk. two more LPs, but this time they are used and came in at under 15$. what are they? why, two Billy Preston albums. not entirely "rare", but not easy finds none the less. i also bought some protective sleeves for my records at the Vinyl Exchange (the records came from the Vinyl Diner, an all together more civilized store). i thought i'd bought more than enough, when i'm actually short a few. oh well, that's something for another trip.

cheers
