Campolo on The Hour

Tony Campolo

Always sure to be an entertaining and interesting interview, Tony Campolo was on The Hour last night. It should also show up on The Hour's iTunes podcast here at some point. This was the first I've heard of the term/organization Tony's started, 'red letter Christian.'

Watch the video on The Hour's website.

Get Even More Lost with Lost

The Lost Blog

If you're gearing up for season 3 of Lost and have finished watching your Season 1 and Season 2 DVDs, you might want to check out this recap of the summer long 'Lost Experience.' It was basically a web game that the producers of Lost had. Not critical to understanding what's going on (at present anyway), but it provides an interesting back story to some of the reasons why things are happening on the island.

Lost Time

I have an unwritten rule of how many tv shows I allow myself to get addicted to. I don't know what the number is exactly, but right now it's roughly 2. So as I find myself getting into one show, I have to drop another. I don't count The Daily Show since that is just required watching, period.

Sue and I managed to avoid watching 'Lost' last season... I think because somehow we'd let ourselves get hooked on Desperate Housewives. I can offer no reasonable explanation for why we watched it nearly every week except that it was a kind of wierd new show that at first was interesting and different, but by the end of last season had turned into an evening soap opera - hence the reason we're not watching it anymore. We should have been watching Lost instead. (well actually, we should have been talking about life, exercising, praying or any number of truly helpful things) The first show of the second season was really well done and got us hooked completely.

The only frustrating thing is how slowly they draw things out. With all the backtracking to people's story's before they were on the island, it felt like the show last night only moved us forward 5 minutes in the story. But that's why we're hooked I guess.

Once people start having other people's babies and falling into comas only to miraciously come out of it, we're moving on to something better.

The Extras

Ricky Gervais (creator of The Office) has a new show coming out on HBO called 'The Extras.' He's an actor who can only get work as an extra (hence the title) and is trying to break into a speaking role. Looks like I'll be torrenting this one.

Great Ideas Are So Hard To Find

I'm sure this seemed like a really good idea somewhere, to someone.

Here's the Office episode 1 torrent file in case you missed the pilot last night - Save this file. Not much new to fans of the British version, but as I was saying to Sue after we watched it it allows the 'show' to continue on. I'm sure they'll offer different variations on some of the UK episodes, it'll just be interesting to see if it gets to stay on the air. Even as a UK rehash it's still funnier and better written than most US sitcoms.

The Office (North American style)

I'm nervously excited because the US version of The Office is premiering on Thursday night on NBC. It looks like it will probably follow a similiar story line to the UK version I know and love but it will interesting to see if North American audiences can handle the lack of laugh track and documentary style shooting.

It's really more of an HBO style show so I don't know if it will go over that well here on regular network TV. Either way we still have the original series to enjoy.
