Windows Is Fun

I'd forgotten how much fun it is doing Windows updates. Currently at 22 of 37 updates. I'm trying to get my old Windows box in shape for Bruce & Lisa and besides having to figure out how to get rid of Linux on the machine, I'm also running all the updates/patches/etc so they won't have to on the dialup internet they get to use in the 'country'.

The main problem I've run across is that I don't have a modem. Nor does the old, old other computer that I used to use. So now I'm faced with having to go buy a modem in 2005! Crazy. Anyone have a PCI modem that they don't use anymore and want to donate to a good cause? (i.e. getting Keli, their daughter, onto MSN messenger)

I've also now got copies of Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield: Vietnam that I'm guessing they won't be needing - first $5 takes each one or I'll trade for a working modem. :)

i have an old pentium II that you can use the modem out of or have the whole computer if you like. i can bring in on wednesday

That'd be sweet. Just the modem is fine - except that it might be an ISA modem instead of a PCI version. I can't remember and easy way to say what the difference would be. But bring it either way and I'll give it a try.
