okay....i know you're not surprised that i'm annoyed at you're quotes...

few thoughts for now:
-without ambition life is meaningless and empty and i think living like that would be failing
-failure isn't necessarily all bad
-cant experience success without failure

- while assumptions are bad, i assume oscar wilde is refering to the ambition to superceed all those around you. prideful ambition. people are often ambitious because they believe that something in their life makes them or their circumstances a failure. this is not positive. it breeds a constant state of disappointment with ones present circumstances and robs said person of peace and in the end any real happiness.

-neither quote speaks of failure as bad (unless you know the context of the simpsons quote, otherwise it's just stating a fact.) you can't fail if you don't try.

-success and failure are relative terms completely dependent on ideology, personality, and frame of mind. for many people failure is success in that they learn from it. for others failure is a motivation to succeed. for still others success does not exist and life is simply a constant attempt to avoid failure.
