here is a bit of recent such'n such.

finished a autobiography by Tina Basich (pretty good for a girl - autobiography of a snowboarding pioneer) on the weekend. i don't snowboard, but i've always loved seeing it and have tremendous respect for it as an artform. tina was one of the first snowboarder i recognized as important (along with peter line), in part because she was not only a terrific snowboarder with great style but an artist. anyway, it's a good read. well written and a decent history of the sport considering she was one of the first female snowboarders (or snowboarders for that matter.)

i've watched a few films the last little while. went with k-rk and andrew to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last friday (i so rarely go to the theatre) and enjoyed it very much. watching drew loose it over the oompa-loompa's was almost as funny as the movie itself. i also borrowed a couple of DVD's from the library. the Concert for George was a memorial concert in honour of George Harrison that is absolutely wonderful. starts with a great indians section, then a little monty python (they were great friends of his, and he was a big fan of theirs) and then a group of his friends and former bandmates (i suppose Ringo and Paul are all thats left, but Billy Preston and Jeff Lyne kinduv count) played a whole bunch of his songs. what was freaky is that his son Dhanni played with them. Dhanni looks exactly like George when he was 20... freaked me right out. also watched Riding Giants which is a doc on the history of big wave surfing. wild stuff. another great art form. not actually the surf doc i was looking for. i want to find a copy of one called Step into Liquid. i saw part of it at work one day... blew my mind. probably more to tell.. later.

We saw that when we were in Australia (Step into Liquid) - amazing movie. Definitely worth searching out. I'd like to see it again too - we saw it on a little TV that didn't really do the quality justice.

you make me wish I didn't have a full-time job. (actually I wish that frequently) I could be a much greater artist if I just had a bit more time on my hands.

chris you should definitely check out Riding Giants. maybe i'll get you to hook me up with step into liquid of amazon. it's the cheapest there i can find it.
