Catchy Tunes in Church Today

It’s always nice to see the church trying to connect to the youth and really speak their language:

Radiohead Overdub

For people who don’t actually listen to Radiohead, I’d imagine this isn’t too far off from what they think Radiohead typically would sound like.

A Review of a Concert by a band called “Radiohead”

Great little review of a recent Radiohead concert by the folks at The Hour, including this intro:

On Friday, August 15 2008, I was asked to review a band called “Radiohead”. Their name is a fusion of the words “radio” and “head”, with no spaces or punctuation in between.
Although it was a Friday night and I already had plans to attend a World of Warcraft LAN party, I begrudgingly agreed, as my boss got pretty angry when I told him that my guild of trolls would have insufficient magic to level up without me there to cast spells.

How Old Does This Make You Feel?

Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, is 16 this year.

Someone, somewhere on the internets posted/tweeted about this but I can’t find where I saw it - whoever you are, you get all the credit for this amazing post. Be proud!

Bono on Boy

U2’s Bono writes in to comment on a Rolling Stone review of their first album ‘Boy’ that was recently re-released. If you can get past his verbal diaharea style of writing, there’s a few little gems to be found:

Entering the blogosphere, a review of BOY from the singer who was one at the time of recording… We the members of said post punk combo are very complimented by DAVID FRICKES 4.5 star review of our debut, an album we always believed in. I remember now a generous JON PARELES review from the VILLAGE VOICE in 1980, a line something along the lines of “this is peter pan, I hope they break up before they grow up”.

Canadian Industry Minister lies about his Canadian DMCA on national radio, then hangs up

Alternatively titled: “I’ve Got to Go Cash my Cheques From the RIAA and MPAA!”

You have to listen to this — in it, the Minister lies, dodges, weaves and ducks around plain, simple questions like, “If the guy at my corner shop unlocks my phone, is he breaking the law?” and “If my grandfather breaks the DRM on his jazz CDs to put them on his iPod, does that break the law?” and the biggie, “All the ‘freedoms’ your law guarantees us can be overriden by DRM, right?” (Prentice’s answer to this last one, “The market will take care of it,” is absolutely priceless.)

Beautiful. Click here for the full article over at boingboing.net and here’s a direct link to the MP3 of the show.

Where I Got My Start

People often ask when I started playing guitar and so I thought I’d pull out an old video I took of myself back when I was 11 and first started. I really like U2, even back then, and so this is my rendition of With or Without You. It’s a little rough but c’mon, I was only 11!

Oh, and I used to be Korean. Before the accident.

(His version of Come Together by the Beatles is really good. Really.)

Remix Radiohead’s Nude

Radiohead has launched a remix contest (I think it’s a contest?) where you can buy the different tracks (they can ‘em stems) of their song ‘Nude’ and then remix it however you’d like. Visit this page to go to your country’s iTunes store and pick up the tracks if you’re interested.
