I won a digital camera from Exclaim magazine. I'd apparently won a camera and some tickets to a gig on Saturday. Unfortunately I couldn't get the package until today so I missed the concert. Oh well, I'll just have to deal with only having the camera.

Actually, the song Nude has been around since the OK computer days when it was also known as Big Ideas (Don't Get Any). On the whole the album is much easier for your average person to listen to than past albums. But the album is different from Hail to the Thief and certainly those previous. It is smoother than previous, it's almost warm and soft. Radiohead isn't a band that changes for changes sake, they evolve. the Bends wasn't shocking if you really listened to Pablo Honey, Ok Computer wasn't shocking if you listened to the Bends, even Kid A/Amnesiac weren't so much shocking as not the direction or distance from OK Computer one expected. Hail to the Thief made sense, especially when you heard Johnny's solo album (Thom's album was almost a manic prediction of this one.) And if you read their blog and saw what they were listening to, you can hear that in the subtle changes in this album. On the whole it's not terribly different, but it's what they wanted to do without anyone telling them what to do. To me that makes it even better.

Hey kids, long time no.. write? I'm somewhat disinterested in this blog, especially since every idiot out there is on facebook and have left blogs behind. However, since Wade is still posting on his and I have some things I wouldn't mind saying, and Jer is.. somewhere out there (Uni mostly), I've unlocked our group discussion blog to the masses. Hopefully with others reading and commenting, we'll be inclined to start writing things again.

Yes, that's right, after nearly a year of it being missing, extensive looking by both Helen and myself in everything from dollar stores to hair salon supply shops for a replacement, and having the hugest beard I ever done had, I found it where I thought it was but could never find it before. Spectacular!

The Knotty Monk is lovely. The food seems to be of the same quality. The atmosphere is very nice, though a bit noisy and not as homey as the Yard. They also have Newcastle on tap, which is wonderful. All in all, it's appeal, it being so close to me, and Jer and Rie being right there.. it's gonna be trouble.

Also trouble; being able to do speeds like 100mph/160kph and not be phased or even realize you're going that fast. Now I need a car with good enough handling to do power slides at that speed.

A couple of points in a bit of a post.

I saved a salamander from the puppies last night (so far they were only rolling him around on the ground.) With my recent troubles getting the dogs to listen while my parents are away, I think I'd choose the dogs over the salamander.

Also, we went to the ballet last night. It was done to Handel's "Messiah" and was a very lovely thing to watch. Trying to suss out the symbolism was very interesting. One problem was that if I hear music and am not in a situation doing something else (reading, writing, driving, etc) my eyes close automatically so I can focus on the music. And that defeats the purpose of going to the ballet.
